About Cyber Essentials

Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed certification scheme developed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). It provides independent verification that an organisation has implemented essential technical controls to protect against common cyber threats.

What we're assessed on

The certification covers five technical control areas that defend against the most common cyber attacks:

• Firewalls — Boundary protection to control network traffic
• Secure configuration — Systems configured to reduce vulnerabilities
• Security update management — Software kept up to date with patches
• User access control — Appropriate access levels and authentication
• Malware protection — Defences against malicious software
